One of the joys of traveling is all the interesting people I meet along the way. I met Sandy a few years ago when I was camping at Indian Springs State Park. . Maybe we hit it off because we were both tent camping for the first time in decades, or maybe it was because we were both early risers and loved to hike and explore. Maybe it was just because she is so full of life and fun. I don’t think Sandy thinks of herself as a tumbleweed, she has strong home roots in her Florida home. She does like to roll on down the road a lot!

Before that trip Sandy did most of her traveling to foreign countries. She’s been to some amazing places and has some great stories. I’m really quite jealous. Other than a quick trip across the border into Canada* and a vacation in Jamaica, I have never left the United States. Since she got bit by the camping bug, Sandy has been fearless traveling the US. She has graduated from a small 2-man tent to a small camper. We’ve managed to meet up several times a long the way and have seen some beautiful sights.

I always look forward to the times that Sandy and I end up tumbling in the same direction and can catch up on out lives around the camp fire.

  • Back in the 70’s you could only by 3.2 beer (low alcohol) when you were 18 in Ohio. We used to dip across the border to buy real beer. That started my early addiction to Molson Ale. I don’t drink much now but spring is on the way so Sam Adams Spring Ale is sure to make its way to my fridge.
